This door knocker catches my eye whenever I walk past this front door of one of the houses on Leyden Street, the first street in Plymouth, Massachusetts. In 1823 the street was named Leyden Street after the city in Holland that offered the Pilgrims refuge before coming to America. Leyden Street, as it looked in 1627, has been re-created at Plimoth Plantation, a living museum.
A life-long resident of Plymouth, Massachusetts, I have been pursuing my passion for landscape photography ever since retiring. Much of my work is captured primarily in and around my historic hometown and nearby areas on the South Shore of Massachusetts. My photography represents how I view the world. I am drawn to beauty in simplicity. It is where I find the most peace. It is my hope that my photos will evoke same emotions within the viewers. Thank you for taking the time to look and comment. I hope you like my pictures as much as I enjoy photography. PLEASE NOTE: The FineArtAmerica watermark does NOT appear on sold images. You find the coolest things! Love the colors of this too! ;)
Janice Drew replied:
Thanks, Andee. It reminded me of a scene out of old England.
