Description
The Plymouth Cordage Company 220-foot smokestack made out of 500,000 bricks was built around 1899 to serve the new power plant of the mill. It can be seen from the ocean and serves as a navigator to boaters.
In 2019, an food truck, Stack Shack, with a nod to the historic smokestack opened up to the public. A delightful place to enjoy a good burger, sandwiches and other foods. The area once closed to the public is now opened from Thursday to Sunday during the summer months. You can enjoy the ocean and sit at umbrella picnic tables near the old smokestack. The ground, once covered with pieces of brick from the mills torn down, is now covered with broken shells.
It's a place with character and a seat close to the history of the Town of Plymouth, Massachusetts. The food was excellent.
