Description
The Plymouth Cordage Company 220-foot smokestack made out of 500,000 bricks was built around 1899 to serve the new power plant of the mill. It can be seen from the ocean and serves as a navigator to boaters.
To those people whose families toiled in the Cordage mills, the smokestack serves as a monument to the immigrants who settled in Plymouth, Massachusetts during the late 1800s and early 1900s. Sadly, it was demolished on May 19, 2022.
