Description
The Plymouth Immigrant Monument was dedicated on the Plymouth waterfront on Oct. 6, 2001. It is located in Brewster Gardens in Plymouth, Massachusetts. In the background of this photo is the site where the first house was built by the Pilgrims on Leyden Street, the first street in Plymouth.
The inscription on the statue reads:
"To the enduring memory of those immigrant settlers of Plymouth who as latter day Pilgrims from many cultures and countries over the course of three centuries helped build upon these shores a robust and hospital community.
At great personal sacrifice, they established new homes in a new world, and by their hard work enriched and transformed this town of their adoption. Precious to a grateful posterity is the remembrance of their lives and labors."
The artist, Barney Zeitz 2001 forged and welded stainless steel - Martha's Vineyard
